Life, Objects, and Why Not: Emily Huffman and Patricia Mera
September 15 - October 16, 2011
Reception: Thursday, September 15th, 7-10pm
Adobe Books Backroom Gallery is excited to present a two-person exhibition featuring San Francisco artists Emily Huffman and Patricia Mera. Emily and Patricia will create a collaborative, multi-media installation in the Backroom Gallery that unites their diverse art practices that include mixed media, painting, collage, and sculpture.
Join us this coming Thursday for an opening reception that will feature live music by The Sunset Jammers.
Originally from Tallahassee, Florida, Emily Huffman earned her BFA from Tulane University. After graduating in 2005 she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, and worked out of Bonded Llama Artist Studios. From 2005-2008 she exhibited artwork in several spaces in the Raleigh-Durham area and began working collaboratively with the group she cofounded, Arthresholds. In 2008 she moved to San Francisco, where she now lives and practices visual, written, sound, and movement arts in a studio by the beach. She runs her own holistic bodywork therapy practice, located in the Mission District of San Francisco.
Pati Mera was born in Cuzco, Peru, and moved to San Francisco in 2005. She has exhibited in various venues throughout the South America and the Bay Area and is currently earning her BFA at California College of the arts while working as a freelance illustrator. She has studied both illustration and fine art and is especially inspired by Dadaist and Surrealist art. Mera works in many different media and derives inspiration from friends and her own personal adventures on the search for the uncommon in life. She is also interested in music and video and has recorded her own songs and short films as part of her restless urge to create and experiment.

On the Blog
David Horvitz' solo exhibition closed September 3rd, but he will continue to guest-blog until September 14th. Limited edition posters produced alongside the exhibition are still available. These black and white, 13x19" posters feature an image from his Public Access project and a new interview between Horvitz and exhibition curator Katie Hood Morgan.
Jason Huff gave the exhibition a nice mention on Rhizome.com. View exhibition photos on our Flickr page.
